  • The Client

    Cheetos is a well-known brand and a leader in the snack food industry. Cheetos were first introduced into the market over 60 years ago in the United States and have since gained worldwide popularity. Their brand voice is fun, youthful, and often amusing but never serious or pretentious.

  • The Challenge

    The primary goal was to create a landing page for a contest that convinces students to provide their name, email address, and phone number in order to enter. The benefit to them will be if they win the contest, they will receive a supply of Cheetos to last them throughout all of their college days. The secondary goal is to then have the students share the contest with friends either on Facebook or through email.

  • Target Audience

    College-age men and women, typically ages 18-22. They have a lot of options when it comes to snack food and they appreciate things that taste good and don’t spoil or go stale quickly. They already know and like Cheetos.

  • The Solution

    I named the contest the Chester Goes to College Sweepstakes, after the popular Chester Cheetos character. Chester is a familiar character for those who love Cheetos and our target audience will recognize him. The wording appeals to a young, college-aged audience and is fun and playful. I highlighted the word FREE in order to connect with the often budget-conscious college student. Lastly, I chose wording to appeal to the ego and desire to stand out by noting that the orange fingers, which are a well known result of eating Cheetos, will make them the envy of their friends and classmates.
